Dr. Jonathan Watson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Chicago, serving patients throughout the south and southwest suburbs. As a sports medicine specialist, he focuses on advanced arthroscopy and minimally invasive procedures for the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. Dr. Jonathan Watson’s practice philosophy centers on clear communication, utilizing nonoperative treatments whenever possible, and a dedicated commitment to helping patients safely return to their active lifestyles—ranging from weekend warriors to competitive and professional athletes.

Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Jonathan Watson attended the University of Illinois in Champaign for his undergraduate education and the University of Illinois in Chicago for medical school.

After medical school, Dr. Jonathan Watson completed an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery fellowship at the renowned University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Center for Sports Medicine, where he served as Administrative Fellow.

Dr. Jonathan Watson has extensive involvement with team coverage and experience treating athletes from many different levels. His experience includes working with athletes from the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and several high schools in the Chicagoland area.

Dr. Jonathan Watson is also actively involved in academic medicine and research. He serves as a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and participates in the education of residents from both the University of Illinois and Midwestern University. Dr. Jonathan Watson has published research related to hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow conditions in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at both national and international medical meetings.
